9 WAYS TO SAY SAUDADE
Saudade is a word that comes from Portuguese and Galician; very difficult to translate in simple form into Spanish. It defines an emotional state. It is a way of expressing a feeling similar to melancholy; provoked by the distancing of “something” beloved and implies the need to resolve that distance, knowing that what is missed so much, will not return.
Through this work I manifest the longing I feel for people, places and events that have passed … Perhaps what I miss the most, beyond the issue, are parts of my soul that have remained behind along with those distant moments. We are made of a matter shaped, in part, by the sum of events, memories, decisions, thoughts, emotions … affections. Our soul is dispersed and re-composed as the clouds in their incessant movement. We are changing beings by nature but each state leaves its mark.
